The Hoody .... I Saw Sunday - Week 49

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

I was walking Grace in the park the other day when I spotted a teenage lad heading down toward the lake. He was dressed in a hoody, a scarf covering the bottom of his face, a muscly dog with studded collar by his side, and was carrying a bulging plastic bag.

As I watched, he looked around him furtively, then stopped by the side of the lake. Immediately the two swans swam up to him, their darling little goslings close behind. At that moment, media images flashed through my mind and although I usually look for the good in people - I felt sick. All I could think was ...  'the swans and their babies!'

But as I watched, he reached into his carrier bag and pulled out a whole loaf of bread and began feeding them. I almost squealed with delight. I could see his eyes crinkling at the corners and when he'd finished, he stroked his dog and went on his way. Admittedly he did throw the plastic bag on the floor, but at that moment I was just so happy.

I picked up the bag as I passed, continuing our walk,  feeling thankful to have had it reaffirmed that most people are lovely really ... we just have to look for it. Even if it is from a distance, on the other side of a lake, after a moment of pre-judgement!

The Biker .... I Saw Sunday - Week 43

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

On my way to do the weekly shopping I got stuck in a tail-back of around 6 cars.

I watched as each one edged in and out, desperate for their moment to overtake.

One by one they swept out and sped agitatedly ahead, until finally the offending vehicle was revealed.

The 'hold-up' was a little silver moped with a large L plate fastened to the back with blue twine.

Astride was a young lad sporting an over sized black leather jacket with tassels along the length of his arms and a shiny black helmet with a red dragon motif on.

He was tearing along at all of 25mph on the 40 mph road, and as I too eventually succumbed and overtook him, I glanced to the side and gave him a reassuring nod.

It was then I noticed his Superman T Shirt.

I couldn't help but smile.

As I looked back at him through my rear view mirror, I could see his proud little face peeping from under his dragon helmet, the tassels dancing in the wind, and the intense look of concentration as he buzzed up the hill behind me.

I could just see in his eyes, that at moment, he felt every inch a 'BIKER'.

A flush of maternal concern enveloped me.

I just hoped he didn't bump into any nasty big bikers that day!

Look, No Hands! .... I Saw Sunday - Week 40

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

I haven't joined in my lovely sisters I Saw Sunday for a few weeks now, so I kept my eyes open this week for something, and spotted this.

My lovely partner in the front garden, with his back to the road,
weeing ... NO HANDED!

Okay, so we do we live in quite an isolated place, but please!

There he was, bold as brass, one hand on his slouched hip, the other resting on the iron fence, with a steady stream tinkling through the brambles into the field that backs on to our house.

I knocked sharply on the window at him, brow furrowed, gesticulating furiously the way you do when trying to 'shoo' something unwanted from the garden.

But he defiantly stood his ground, obviously mid-stream, his face bearing a look of strained nonchalance.

It crossed my mind that he'd finally lost the plot, until I remembered that our daughter was in the bathroom and her boyfriend was working out in the 'secluded' back garden.

But still I thought.

Okay, so perhaps he really was bursting to go, but what's with the no hands?

When eventually he'd finished and ambled in, I asked.

He snapped his answer, the open-air weeing tension still evident in his tone, "so no-one would know what I was doing!"

Well I suppose it did make sense, and I must admit, although I could see everything from my viewpoint, his slouch hipped casualness would have been impressively convincing from the rear.

I couldn't help thinking though. What on earth would he have done if someone had actually strolled by and stopped for a chat?

It doesn't bear thinking about.

I just can't imagine how he would have got out of it.

It almost makes me want to 'arrange' for the bathroom not to be free again!

Dead Man In The Park! .... I Saw Sunday - Week 33

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

On a couple of my trips to the park with Grace, I've stopped and talked with a lovely old man in his mobility scooter.  He's 92 years old, charming and bright as a button. So when I saw him across the lake slumped in his scooter, my heart sank.

"Oh no, he's dead!"  I thought, putting Grace on her lead and rushing around the lake to him.

As I neared him, my legs went all wobbly and my mind was racing. I really didn't know what to do. There was no-one else about and I didn't even have my mobile on me. He'd become my responibilty. It wouldn't have felt right just to just leave him alone, dead in the middle of the park while I went for help. I thought about perhaps leaning over the handles, pressing the mobility scooter button and 'driving' him away.

I stood beside him for a while, my heart in my throat, wondering just what to do.

Then with my heart pumping, I steeled myself and tentatively reached out my hand to his shoulder  ....  and he came ALIVE again. I nearly had a heart attack!

After I'd regained my composure, we had a chat and he told me he often liked to take a nap by the lake when the weather was nice. I nodded and agreed, but I couldn't help thinking, well you could've told me that on one of our other chats!

I did have my camera with me, but it seemed bad taste to ask him to pretend to be dead in his scooter again just so I had a picture for my blog!

The Safety Sheep .... I Saw Sunday - Week 27

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

My lovely partner took this photo for me of the sheep in the field next to our house. The three above spent absolutely ages watching the sheep below investigating beneath the trunk. It was having a really thorough check underneath and I could just imagine it saying

"Looks a bit dodgy to me, there's definitely some rot down here, you better be careful, it could go at any moment!"

The three up above were completely unappreciative of its efforts, and when the safety sheep did finally decide that it was okay for climbing and attempted to join them, they wouldn't even let it up ... and after all those safety checks it had done too!  The Meanies.

My Lovely's .... I Saw Sunday - Week 25

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

My lovely Grace had a poorly tummy so hadn't eaten for about 24 hours. When we went to bed (Grace sleeps on her bed by the radiator in our room) I was woken at 3pm by her scratching at the bedroom door. She never wakes us in the night so I rushed down the stairs with her thinking she needed to 'go'. As I was unlocking the door she sailed past me and into the kitchen and stood by her food bowl ... looked at it ... then looked at me ... then looked back again at her bowl ... it couldn't have been clearer. Her appetite was back! Smiling, I gave her some food which she devoured as if she hadn't eaten in 24 hours, which of course she hadn't! then she started scooshing the side of her mouth clean on the carpet (for undoggy people, it's not as bad as it sounds!) then she looked up to the cupboard where the treats are kept. It was official, at 3pm in the middle of the night her poorly tummy had declared itself well and truly better!

and

My lovely Cracker now has her food in the living room at night where she sleeps in case the 'black cat' gets in the cat flap and steals it. When we go up to bed, I arrange all the cushions on the sofa for her 'princess and the pea style' (she's not allowed in the bedroom because she tries to sleep on my head!) and she settles on them and watches as I place the food on the coffee table just by her. I can tell she thinks this is just how it should be. I have images of her hooking a single meaty chunk with her claw, grape style and popping it in her mouth before putting a little cat sized silk sleeping mask on and stretching out as soon as I leave the room!

and lastly

A picture of my darling Grace fast asleep on her bed

... don't you just love it when that happens   :o)

Visitors! .... I Saw Sunday - Week 22

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

Here's mine ...

We've been having a very bold and unwelcome 'visitor' lately, a big black cat that Grace has become just a little obsessed with.
This obsession was given an almighty boost the other night when the said cat actually dared to come in the house through the cat flap and eat Cracker (our cats) food!
Well as far as Grace was concerned, this was WAR.
She scuttled after it, careering around corners, nearly wedging herself in the cat flap in hot pursuit.
Since then she's taken to doing regular garden checks.
Her little face is all disappointed when she comes in and hasn't seen it.

I can almost hear her muttering, " stinking black cat, coming in my house, bold as brass ... it won't be acting so clever when I get hold of it!"
She then toddles over to her bed, flops down and drops straight off to sleep.

Where ... I think by the jerking body, cheek puffing woofs and running paws, she manages to 'sorts him out' good and proper!

and

... luckily Grace didn't see this!

My daughter and her boyfriend were up late and heard the cat flap go.
As Cracker was asleep in her bed they went to investigate and saw another furry visitor in the house ... A RABBIT!

We have a sneaking suspicion that the black cat may be selling tickets!

Dogs, Comments and Birds .... I Saw Sunday - Week 21

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

Here's mine ...

Three Jack Russell's on their walk all doing that thing they do with their back legs as they walk ... step, step, hop ... step, step, hop ... it makes me smile every time.

and

I've been reading around blogs and beside the wonderful writing, I just can't help being impressed with some peoples commenting ability.
They can add insight, humour and an obvious total understanding of the piece all in one line ... whereas I sit there for 'ages' writing, deleting and writing again and end up with ... Brilliant!
I feel like a child sitting cross legged thrusting my arm in the air saying, I get it too! That's exactly what I thought!
... I may just start sneaking 'ditto' underneath   :o)

and lastly

It's been very windy these past couple of days and on one of my walks with Grace around the field I saw a pheasant running with the wind behind it.
I couldn't help but stop and watch its little legs going like the clappers.
I felt like shouting, "Go little pheasant Go!"
You had to be there, but I'm telling you  .... that was one impressively fast bird.

Spiders .... I Saw Sunday - Week 20

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

Here's mine ...

My daughter is absolutely terrified of spiders and often 'imprisons' them in upturned glasses which I find first thing in the morning. Admittedly where we live we do have some HUGE spiders in the house, but the other day I found a tiny one in the bath hiding under the plug. I'd seen it go under there moments before so I knew it was alive, but when I moved the plug to the side it curled up and played the old 'dead spider' routine. Well I instantly took a liking to the little fellow and as I knew my daughter was about to have a bath, I got it with a bit of tissue and placed it on the floor.
As I was going down stairs, my daughter was heading up and stopped me.
"Is that spider still in the bath?"
I told her I'd just got it out and that it was only a tiny one anyway. I could tell by her face instantly that she disagreed with my sizing of it, which was confirmed with.
"No it WASN'T tiny, where have you put it?"
I told her I'd put it on the landing, which in hindsight was a bad move because she went thundering down the stairs and stormed into the kitchen to get her imprisoning glass, then headed up to the bathroom mumbling.
"That's great ... it's gonna be just tearing about up there now!"
Well besides laughing at the idea of it 'tearing about', I couldn't help feeling sorry for the little fellow. Starting its day in hiding, feigning death, getting chased around a bath by a huge women with a bit of pink tissue, running for its life and then ending up with a crazed girl stalking it to put it in a glass prison ... and we're scared of them!

Mice and Laptops! .... I Saw Sunday - Week 18

I Saw Sunday where you can join in with pictures, thoughts, observations, anything you like!

Here's mine ...

You may or may not know, but we had 'several' mice living with us a little while ago.
Well after numerous humane traps, removals and two sonic sound mouse repellents in the kitchen, we are mice free ... or so I thought.
Until ...
I was awoken at 4am last night by an all too familiar scuttling sound coming from behind the skirting board.
Now, I haven't actually 'seen' any mice, but I have a sneaking suspicion there's a rodent conspiracy going on.
As I lay there in the dark, I could just see them all huddled up together under the skirting board holding an official meeting, that went something like this ...

Right, they've stopped the traps and stopped talking about us so let's look what we've got here:

1. They love animals + they're vegetarians = they won't kill us.
2. The cats a pacifist = it won't kill us.
3. The dog sleeps all day = it doesn't matter.
4. The kitchen woman likes us = pushover.
5. The big one on the sofa drops enough food to keep us going all through the winter = constant supply.

So listen up everyone.
If we just stay out of sight and keep our heads down .... we've got it made.
I didn't get back to sleep again till 5.30am.

One more thing that kept me awake was my new laptop.
Although I love it, it's taking a bit of getting used to.
The keyboard is a lot smaller, and you have to 'tap' quite hard to get a letter.
The mouse I use with it is also tiny (it's all mice with me isn't it) and the text is smaller too, which I'm having a real job seeing clearly (even with the reading glasses I got from the pound shop)
Now I've been writing away and posting, blissfully unaware since I got it, until my lovely sister rang me and said ...
"You're comments are crazy!" and "Have you forgotten how to spell or something?" LOL
Now truthfully, since I first started my blog, she has always rang me after posting with ... "Quick, get on your computer now you've done it again!" but it seems I've taken it to a new level with the laptop.

So, all I can say is.
If you've received a comment from me lately that read something like this  ...  Abolutly Betiful.

I just want you to know ... I meant every word!  hehe  :o)

Snuggie and Runs ... Saw Sunday - Week 17

A random assortment of things seen
this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

I've decided to use any spare time I have from now on to work on a children's book (eek, steady on now, what no prompts! ... can I do it? ... umm ... well maybe I can do just one a week.)
The plot itself is finished, a feisty child, talking animals and a battle between light and dark, it just needs sort of polishing up.
The 'polishing up' process mainly consists of my writing something, then getting straight on the phone to my sister and reading it to her to see how it sounds.
She's been absolutely invaluable and always tells me just what I need to know.
I really couldn't have got this far with without her help, so to my lovely sister ... thank you, thank you, thank you xxx

and

We live in an old gatehouse that admittedly is freezing at times and in our living room we have two sofas, one away from the draught (mine, it happened that way before we knew about the draughts, honest) and another directly in line of the draught which is my partners.
Well he's constantly moaning at everyone to shut the door if it comes ajar (rather than get up of the sofa and shut it himself of course) so I've been putting him in a Snuggie (a blanket with arms) in the evening.
Whenever I get it out he starts protesting and saying, " I don't want that blinking thing on!" and "get it away from me!"
Needless to say I completely disregard his moans and slot his arms in and tuck it in all around him, and as soon as he gets it on he quietens up and settles.
It's a burgundy red one and when he's laying there all peaceful and snug, I can't help thinking he looks a lot like a TV watching monk in a cassock.
The thing is now, I find his initial reaction soo funny, especially when followed by the obvious snuggly enjoyment that follows, that I can't help threatening him with the Snuggie.
I find myself at the slightest suggestion of a draught announcing ... 'Come on, you're having it on whether you like it or not!'

and lastly

When I go for a walk in the field at the side of our house with Grace, I sometimes get quite far ahead when she's found something particularly interesting that needs sniffing and checking out.
If I get too far, I stop and turn, and wait until she's ready to catch up.
This is the bit that never fails to make me smile.
Firstly, she stands tall and locates where I am ... then she start to run, getting faster and faster until her back curves and barrels like a greyhound.
Then with her eyes firmly fixed on me as she passes by, she skims just past the side of my legs at full speed with her face fur flying and her mouth open and laughing.
It's an absolute pleasure to see and makes my heart burst with joy every time she does it.

Wigs, Moustaches and a Birthday ... I Saw Sunday - Week 16

A random assortment of things seen
this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

New Years Day was my lovely Mum's birthday so we all got together and put on wigs and moustached up as you do for such an occasion ... what you don't? ... strange!
Well anyway, as I actually managed to remember the camera I thought I'd share a few of the pictures with you :o)

                                           It's not funny.
Blondie was right to be scared ... he was a charmer.
I'm tellin 'em, right, do it like this.
Mary Frost, pleased to meet you.

I've got a union meeting in the morning.
Come sit .... tell me your problems.
                                  We are bootiful, ya?
                              Because I'm worth it!
Hey gringo, don't you look at my wife ... she mine.
                           Corporal Tebbutt at your service.
Transvestite and proud.

.... and last but certainly not least,
my lovely mum looking rather fetching in her
silver and purple antenna and matching moustache.

Needless to say .... we had fun
Happy Birthday Mum xxxx

Cold Hands! ... I Saw Sunday - Week 14

A random assortment of things seen
this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

Not much to say this week as I've been tucked up inside as much as I can as it's just been sooo cold out.

However, Grace still needed her walks, so as always I headed down to the park where I was unceremoniously mugged by the pigeons. I got out of the car with my bag of bread and it was like Trafalger Square. I felt like the Pigeon Pied Piper as they followed me down to the lake, then the ducks spotted me and all came waddling and quacking at me too ...
the weather really is bitter at the moment and the lake was almost completely iced over so the little loves must have been starving.

At one point on our walk, my hands were so frozen that when I picked up Grace's you-know-what, I was actually pleased at the warmth ... I know ... forget I said it ... but my hands really were that cold!

Back On Line! ... I Saw Sunday - Week 13

A random assortment of things seen
this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

HOORAY! ... I 'm back on line ... finally!

Well this has been an interesting couple of weeks. Our internet went potty which resulted in everyone in the house growing more and more tense, main reason being, according to the provider, the trouble was at our end, and news like that to a house full of technical idiots is not good! At one point my lovely partner, in a rush of totally unfounded confidence, took out every connection from every socket in a brave attempt to solve the situation ... then I saw this look come over his face. His eyes widened as he stood motionless and silent, staring at all the ends of the wires with not the faintest idea of how or where to put them back again. It was not a happy moment, but on the positive side we're back on line again, and we've all agreed never to mention this dark time again ... :o)

As for I saw, well ...

The weather has been freezing but absolutely beautiful. On one of our walks to Delapre Abbey I drove down the avenue and the trees ahead were completely white from trunk to tip and sparkling in the sunlight, it actually prompted an involuntary squeal of delight. I couldn't help thinking that if I saw a jolly fat man dressed in red waiting for me at the end, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised ... it was just magical.

and

As my partner and I were sitting in the car together a bus load of children pulled up a little way ahead of us. I was busy looking out of the window in the other direction when I felt him prodding my arm. I turned to see him with his brow all furrowed up whilst pointing out of the other window, he then asked in a very puzzled tone ...
" is he very big, or is he very small?"
... coming toward us was a man teacher who must have been about 5ft at best escorting an enormous child who must have been about 5ft 10".  I burst out laughing.
It wasn't just that it was visually funny, it was my partners genuine confusion at the sight that had me in complete hysterics.

 and

Another result of the cold weather is that I've seen so many lovely dogs with their coats on. It does make me smile to see them. Grace looks smashing in hers and is more than happy to have her little red quilted one on.  She stand very still and serious till it's been all velcroed up, then wags her tail and looks all chuffed about it.

and lastly

I lost the car again! It's getting to be a regular thing with me now. I park up at the shopping centre, make a mental note as to where the car is, go into the shop ... then completely forget! Obviously I do always find it, but trailing around the car park with my trolley trying very hard to look purposeful and NOT as if I don't know where my car is, is really quite trying. I've put it down to hormones even though my sister assures me that I've always had the memory of a goldfish ... I'm thinking of tying a balloon to my arial.

Einstein! ... I Saw Sunday - Week 9

A random assortment of things seen
this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

Grace getting well and truly buffeted on our walks this week with the crazy windy weather we've been having. I really wanted to get a full front shot of her head with the wind behind her, because I swear, if you catch her at just the right angle with her face fur on end ... she looks remarkably like Albert Einstein!

and

A picture of Grace when the wind dropped with her face fur the right way ... looking a little fed up about having her picture taken again!!

and

Another walk related thing ... people must think all I do is walk all week!  Anyway, we had to do an abrupt u-turn on Friday because we spotted the boisterous doberman, I could see Grace stiffening so we legged it pretty sharpish down to the little lake where we came across a wonderful old red setter who Grace took to immediately and they spent a good five minutes together smiling and sniffing with their tails in full wag.

and

Whilst having stopped at some traffic lights by a row of houses, I looked up to their roofs and it was clear which one hadn't any loft insulation as it was the only one full of pigeons,  it was a freezing cold day and I couldn't help but smile at the thought of them with their little feet all nice and toastie.

and

A traffic tail back of about eight cars behind two little whited haired old ladies driving at about 25mph on a 40mph road, as I passed by on the other side I could see them both grinning,  they were either happily oblivious ... or fully aware and finding it highly amusing!

and lastly

Two swans at the lake taking off about a foot from me and flying over my head ... absolutely breathtaking!!

Dobermans and Dachshunds! ... I Saw Sunday - Week 8

A random assortment of things seen
this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

Grace our lovely dog encountering a large boisterous doberman that made her go all stiff and tall until he'd gone  ... bless her, and then soon after that her slipping on the leaves by the lake and falling right in!  Bless her again ... not one of her best walks.

and

My mum making me laugh on a walk with her in her shopping buggy when her wheels got all muddy and started collecting these long leaves that stuck out from the sides, and her saying it looked like a chariot, which in turn led us to a conversation on buggy customization that made us laugh even more.
(this reminded me of when my mum first got her buggy, my sisters partner said if ever she went to a fancy dress competition she could just throw a sheet over her and the buggy, put a helmet on and stick a plunger on her head and go as a Dalek ... hehe ... it still makes me laugh)  :o)

and

Another walk with Grace where she bumped into her most favourite breed of dogs, a dachshund.
She just loves them and really does smile at the sight of them, the very first time she ever saw one, she stood stock still, looked straight at me, smiled and wagged her tail madly as if to say  "LOOK!"  ...  this was a much better walk as far as she was concerned.

and

The little mouse removal ... or mice.
Okay, okay, yes a few people may have mentioned to me that there wouldn't be just one, but I only ever saw one, and to be fair as I've been taking them out ... they do look remarkably alike.
We've removed 6, and have plugged in some sonic mouse deterrents. Needless to say, my partner who is still having nothing to do with them in case they 'get him',  is feeling a lot more relaxed.
I have stopped shouting 'THE LITTLE MOUSE' at him to make him jump ... BUT I have found now that I only have to show him an empty little mouse box trap to get some real lift out of him!    hehe  :o)

and lastly

I have to mention the glorious pathway of leaves everyday on my walks, it's as if the whole park has been to a wedding and the trees have thrown their leaves for confetti ... just BEAUTIFUL.

Dogs,Cats and Mice! ... I Saw Sunday - Week 7

A random assortment of things seen this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

Our cat loves to sleep on the sofa in our spare room and our dog lays on the back of it and looks out of the window.
As we were having a new sofa to put in there, the old one was taken out ... but the animals obviously hadn't seen it go.
Grace our dog took it remarkably well after an initial comical widening of the eyes and double take,
however ...
Cracker was very unsettled by the whole missing bed scenario and just stood and stared at the space for at least 5 minutes before deciding it was simply impossible to sleep or settle anywhere else for the rest of the day.

(they've both decided now though that they LOVE the new and improved viewing station/bed/sofa)

and

Two young boys at the park stripped to the waist doing back flips, kung fu moves, hand stands on two hands and then on one, and then bouncing on the one hand, and then doing tumbling like you see the gymnasts do on the television ... I was VERY impressed and stood at a distance partially obscured by a tree with Grace, watching, then suddenly had the thought I may look a bit suspect watching two half dressed young boys in a park from behind a tree so we carried on with our walk.

and

Two other not so young lads running very fast to catch the bus ... and missing it!
 hehe

... am I awful?

and

My partner encountering our little resident mouse in the kitchen leading to a full scale panic, he now clumps his feet to make a noise whenever he goes in there just in case it 'gets him'.
I keep shouting "THE LITTLE MOUSE" every now and again to make him jump, which he does every time I do it!

hehe ... hours of fun

... I really am awful aren't I.

(as you may have gauged by my naming our resident ... the 'little' mouse... I've grown quite fond of it, however humane mouse traps are about to be placed and he is to be relocated ... somewhere nice)

and lastly

Two gorgeous scruffy tufty-faced dogs rushing to say hello to me, wagging their tails, and anything else they could, whilst smiling their heads off ... a complete joy that left me smiling for ages.

Cherry Door Knocking ... I Saw Sunday - Week 6

A random assortment of things seen this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

A wonderful stringy cloud that looked exactly like a lasso that prompted me to shout Yahoo in my head, and several more times later in the day because of it

and

My darling cat playing 'cherry door knocking' ... or meowing.

She stands at the door meowing until I open it, then looks at me for a second

then ....

clears off!

I'm sure I can hear a little purry hehe as she goes.

and

A cab ride sitting in the little seat that faces the back window when a van pulled up behind. I looked up just as the man driving it put his finger up his nose catching my eye as he did it. It was only seconds that our eyes met, but with his finger firmly inserted in his nose it felt like FOREVER! a very uncomfortable moment ... for both of us  :o)

and lastly

Two muntjac deers running across the field at sunrise one morning as I opened the curtains ... a wonderful start to the day.

Coots, Trees and a Trip! ... I Saw Sunday - Week 5

A random assortment of things seen this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

The coots at the lake causing trouble ... again!

I love them, they're the ones with the white heads, all the other birds on the lake just go about their business, but there's always something kicking off with the coots and they shove their heads out in front and start tanking through the water peeping and chasing one another.
They really make me laugh ... and remind me of my partner just a little more than perhaps they should! ... hehe

I was determined to take some pictures this week, but only managed one on a dull day that doesn't really show how beautiful this avenue of trees really is, but I
popped it in any way. This is one of my usual walks with Grace that leads us down to the lake.  I'd love to have a picture of them in each season as they are just glorious and it's such a pleasure to walk there, although Grace's favourite part of our walk is when we get to the lake. She runs at every single bird that's still on the side with her tail wagging making sure they get in the lake in double quick time, it makes her day and makes me laugh everytime too ... an absolute delight to watch.

and lastly

I saw a man trip over, not completely, that wouldn't be funny, but just enough for comic entertainment. A quick shuffle followed by some arm action, followed by the regained footing and then a quick scan to see if anyone had seen ... classic.

A Mouse Manoeuvre! ... I Saw Sunday - Week 4

A random assortment of things seen this week for  I Saw Sunday

here are mine ...

A flock of pheasants feasting on fallen apples in our garden ... I bet you had a job saying that! hehe  ...  no honestly there really were, they come in from the field next to our house and eat off the berry bushes too, we're sure they think it's their local cafe.

A little mouse in our house that ran under the sofa that my partner was laying on, prompting him to do what I can only describe as a gymnastic manoeuvre resulting in him standing upright in one swift movement!

An incredible swirling mist that began forming just above the ground across the field and through the trees one evening that looked just like a scene from the Hammer House films, absolutely amazing to see .... and just a little bit creepy too ... so I was glad that I wasn't on my own :o)

and

An incredible jet black mushroom with frilly edging that has grown just outside our gates .... undoubtedly the most impressive mushroom I've ever seen.
