The Waltz - Magpie Tales # 48

Magpie Tales  hosts a weekly writing prompt, write a small vignette or poem using the photo below as your inspiration.

This brought alive a wonderful memory!

The room spun about me
as you swept me up
with Strauss violins
giddy in my ears
and we twirled
and twirled
in a Viennese ballroom
with golden statues
and ladies in gowns
and my heart danced along
with the rise and the fall
and I knew I'd never
ever
forget this feeling
and as the music came to an end
you placed me down
and took mum by the hand
for the next waltz
and as I watched
I danced each step
with the both of you
and I was in heaven
all over again.

What an interesting approach, from a child's eyes. Lovely. You placed me there as I recalled childhood dances with my Father.

How wonderfully romantic and fantastically nostalgic! Sigh...to be twirled around in a dance with our father and then both parents! Your Magpie brought back memories of those happy and safe times nestled between the love of my parents! My father died when I was 6 and so your words were magical to me!

Dancing with my father, standing on his feet as he twirled me round and round, safe and loved ... I lost him way too soon.

Your Magpie is lovely.

Thats really beautiful - I'm glad it turned out to be your dad, if was a really nice twist and the rhythm of the poem read so much like a waltz.

You have very cleverly recreated the rhythm of a waltz. It sweeps and it swirls. I was really caught up in it. Lovely!
