Faith - Sunday Scribblings

Written for Sunday Scribblings prompt 230 - Faith

She sat peacefully at the core
and smiled her own smile
as the storm raged about her
she had learned
she had learned it would pass
as weather did
and that she would remain
her soul unscathed
she was sure now
and her faith never wavered
for she knew
who she was.

Loved

When I was small
I knew who I was
I was told many times
I was lovable
and loved
and I was greeted with smiles
Then life happened
and happened
and I no longer knew
and there were no smiles
and the sun rose and the sun set
and the seasons passed
and I was nothing
felt nothing
became
nothing
and then there was you
and I began to remember
and as I looked in your eyes
I saw what you saw
and I was once again greeted with smiles
and I knew once again
who I was.

If Only - Writers Island Prompt #18

This wasn't the first time it had happened.
She was fed up with the amount of times she had said
'If only' to herself,
but as she left the toilet, here she was again,
it was happening all over again
the looks,
the comments,
the pointing,
the laughter,
She tugged at her boyfriends arm.

"Let's just get out of here!"

They rushed for the door, her boyfriend shielding her all the way as they made their way through the crowd and out to the safety of the street.

"Not again?"

She nodded and turned her back,
he dutifully eased the skirt out from her knickers again.

.... "That's one more pub we won't be going back to then!"

Water - Thursday Think Tank Prompt 12

Poets United holds a weekly poetry prompt.
The Thursday Think Tank
This weeks prompt word is
W A T E R

Your love
was an ocean
that washed
away my past
no troubled heart
no hurts to moan
I stood
smoothed and breathless
  quenched
and I smiled
and I laughed
and I travelled your seas
where the stars would shine
and where sunsets lasted
forever.

The Prayer - Three Word Wednesday

This is my first time joining in with
Three Word Wednesday
where each week you write something
using the three prompt words.
This week's words are . . .

                        ABSTAIN,  HALO  and  PRAYER

It was late afternoon and I was feeling suitably pleased with myself.
Not only had I walked past two cake shops, I'd also actually scribbled CHEESE  and WINE off my shopping list.
I arrived home that evening with a skip in my step, my halo still well and truly intact.
I'd had a cuppa soup, an apple, a salad with no dressing and one boiled sweet.
As I was rummaging in the freezer for the broccoli and planning my super healthy, calorie controlled tea, the phone rang.
"I'm on my way home, do you want me to bring a Curry and a bottle of wine?"
Eeek ... I'd managed to abstain the whole day.
I looked skyward, uttering a little prayer.
"Please ... pleeease let me say No!"
The prayer was still running through my mind as I heard the words.
"Yes, and get some onion bahjees while you're there."
Aaaghh ... what had I done!
The halo went clattering to the floor.
I closed the fridge and looked up once more.

"Please, if you are listening,  let me for just once make it through ONE whole day!"

Prompted

I'm absolutely loving having a go at the writing prompts

.... and reading everyone else's.

I'm sooo glad I'm doing it, and sooo glad I've got my blog.

I never would have done it if my sister hadn't set my blog up for me, shown me the prompts, talked me through the links and done everything bar actually writing the stories for me.

Who would have thought it?

My Lovely Sister ... that's who

                           THANK YOU  xxx

It's your own fault

.... you shouldn't have put it on in the first place!!!!

Crimson Toenails - Magpie Tale # 28

http://magpietales.blogspot.com hosts a weekly writing prompt, write a small vignette or poem using the photo below as your inspiration. This is mine. . .

I lay in the bath looking at my freshly painted toe nails. I'd tried a new colour, which was out of character as I'd worn the same iridescent pearl for the last 20 years.  This was a glorious ultra glossy crimson red, and as I wriggled my toes it was like all ten of them were shouting at me from the bottom of the bath "check us out!"

Yes. It was time for a change.

I'd had the same hair style and applied my make up the same way for the last 20 years too, I was known for being distinctly 'beige'. I looked at them again, the colour was bold and alive, full of energy ... confident.

I felt my tummy turn over and a tearful lump form in my throat.

Who was I kidding.

I pulled my feet sharply back under the water and glanced quickly over to the nail polish remover, breathing an involuntary sigh of relief at the sight of it, then slipped myself down deeper into the water, toes safely submerged out of my sight.

Everything was fine, I was being silly, it was just some nail varnish for goodness sake!

But I knew it wasn't.

I wanted the change.

Maybe I'd simply gone too far, too soon?

That was it.

What was I thinking?

20 years of being beige and I jump straight to a glossy crimson red.

I knew exactly what I had to do.

Try taupe!
