Manners! - Three Word Wednesday

'Please don't come over, please don't come over!'
It was too late, the office lech had homed well and truly in on her.
"I saw you looking, so I thought I'd come and say, hi."
He reached out and touched her arm.
"I've always felt there was 'something' between us, an affinity ... I can see you feel it too."
She wanted to say  'No I don't you big creep ... Clear off!'  but her inherent good manners prevented her and she lowered her head ... and noticed his fly was open. That was all she needed. A creepy lech after her with an open fly!  Uugh!
She began to fidget uncomfortably, her eyes darting everywhere but 'there'.
He gave a slimy little laugh and stepped forward, one eyebrow raised, a wry smile working its way over his lips.
"Don't be nervous, sweetheart."
She groaned inwardly.
He reached out again, tracing a single finger down the length of her bare arm.
She took a step backwards.
She could see by the expression on his face that he interpreted the backward manoeuvre as her officially turning 'silly' in his presence.
"Shall we take this conversation somewhere a little more," he hesitated, and raised the eyebrow again, " private."
She took a deep breath and looked him in the eye.
"Could you please move aside ... and I thought I'd best mention, your fly is open."
Without an inkling of embarrassment, he kept solid eye contact, smiled again, zipped himself up and put his hands on his hips.
"Checking the goods out already ay, sweetheart?"
It was at that point she reevaluated her manners.
"I'm just about ready to give 'the goods' a swift kick if you don't go away!"
The smile dropped from his lips along with the suspended eyebrow.
A feeling of guilt flitted over her as she saw his deflated face. Maybe she could have been less harsh. Perhaps she could have let him down a little more gently... then she saw a smile work itself back on his face and the eyebrow go up again.
"Mmm, I like 'em feisty!"
That's it, she thought.  Stuff manners  ...   "/*//*  off!"

Three Word Wednesday where you write something using the three prompt words.   This week's words are ... Fidget, Affinity and Mention.

I liked the build-up, the mixed feelings, the sleaziness. I'd love to see a more solid ending to this story, though. How does she finally wriggle out from under his greasy leer?

Keep it up!

Love how we can have very animated thoughts in our head as the world goes around us. I often scream shut-up in my head to people, they never listen.

Good manners do get in the way sometimes, don't they? I'm glad the odious man got his come-uppance!

What a great story. I enjoyed it very much. Too bad she didn't follow through on her assault on his "goods". I think many of us have met this creep.

Ha.. silly girl, she should have collapsed to the floor traumatised by this incident.Imagine the payout she would have got from a sexual harrassment case.

As a former office manager I was always amazed that following complaints after actions of this sort the perpetrator couldn't see what he had done wrong.

It is good to see this subject aired odious though it may be.

There's one in every office, isn't there? I had a boss like that. Brought him down a peg, too. It felt good!

Good thing I have my sweats on, I'd be checking my fly...

I think I worked with this guy more than once in my life. Great way of capturing the whole creepy "get-in-your-pants" guy! Thanks for sharing with us and thank you so much for your visits, they are always appreciated!

I absolutely detest people like that, as I have told a few to their faces in the past. The trouble is that the decent chaps tend to get tarred with the same brush, collectively....."MEN!!!!"

It actually is an issue here in the south of the USA; how to tell some one to f*&k off while being polite.

Deborah said...

OA, yes it is a shame the nice ones get tarred :o( I so agree

Mamma I didn't know it was an issue in the south of the USA? interesting!

Thanks again for your comments, I do appreciate them x :o)

Sometimes, good manners are vastly over-rated. She handled this so well. Next time, she should take a bat to him. Well done.

Deborah said...

'a bat to him' ... LOL, that did make me laugh, thanks VL x :o)

You really communicated the sense of awkwardness so well. One of my friends was sexually harassed at work and she always said that she battled with her built-in sense of politeness when dealing with the man in question. She wished she had told him how it was straight away. A very realistic vignette. Good one!

In the end, sometimes you have to be a brink to those who are too dense to get common courtesy.
