A Special Bed - Monday's Child # 40

Monday's Child prompt for children's poetry or verse

I have a secret, but please don't tell
for normal beds are all very well
but mine goes to places in my dreams
on sky blue oceans and deep green seas.

It waits until I'm fast asleep
then whisks me off before I can peep
to special coves and golden sands
where it sweeps me in and softly lands.

Then all night long I'll run and play
till it's time to go, then my bed will say
come snuggle now and rest your head
for to sail you must sleep in your special bed.

I admire people with your creativity and talent. I must have been hiding behind a door when those were passed out. Good job.

This reminds me of many of my favourite stories from childhood. The special coves and golden sands are such great images. A story dreams are made of!

OH! I LOVE this! I remember pretending that my bed was a boat. It's how I used to fall asleep. It was one of my favorite day dreams that helped me drift into night dreams. How sweet. :)

This is just wonderful, Deborah! It reminds me of Robert Louis Stevenson...I so loved 'The Land of Counterpane' when I heard it as a child in Ireland that it has stayed in my heart. Well done....:)

Deborah,

This is lovely. The imagery takes me along on that special bed, and I can't imagine a child who would not be enchanted with this poem. Beautiful work.

my childhood best friend had one of those beds that was a top bunk with a desk underneath. we always played that it was our boat and we were adrift at sea. it was so much fun
