Too Small

There's seems to be something fishy going on with my wardrobe.
Lately when I'm trying to put clothes on that have always fitted me perfectly before, they seem to be coming up too small.

Now, there are two things that could be happening here.

1.  Someone is exchanging each and every one of my clothes with an exact replica in a whole size smaller.
or
2.  I've put on weight.

Well I've thought long and hard about it, and I've come to the conclusion that, as I refuse at this point to entertain the idea that it could possibly be number two ...

I'm obviously the unfortunate victim of a very elaborate practical joke!

It's a bit like the problem of the multiplying hangers. Things go on in there. Unsavory things.

This practical joke is one of the running sub-plots in the Len Deighton comic thriller "Only When I Larf" and film of the same name starring Richard Attenborough (1968) Three confidence tricksters operate as a team. The ringleader (Attenborough) always dresses immaculately in suit, spats, bowler hat. The youngest member of the team repeatedly exchanges Attenborough's bowler for an identical one either quarter size smaller of larger, so that Attenborough gets worried that his head is alternately swelling and shrinking! Moral - there's no sucker like a con artist!
(Google "Only When I Larf" for more detail)
