The Ride - Magpie Tales.

Black asphalt beckoning
we'd drive
forever to nowhere
fast.
Furious at the world
for nothing in particular
just fuel for the ride.

These kids look like they have moved beyond furor ~ or haven't approached it yet! Nice Magpie....

No one will know who I am looking at,
except the one who catches my eye,
will there be a promise of crossing by again?
or will this be simply a lie?

Yes, driving fast is a sort of fury. But for some, like me, fast means fear.

I really like that idea of being furious at the world because that's often how it is at that age. Succinct and very well done.

You emote mountains in just a few words - the poem and old photo are lovely. Per your challenge here is my wordy attempt with a dark humor twist. W.C.C.

For so many who see our smiles, they feel a touch of sorrow

Though clearly 3 heads in a car, are better than 1 in a barrel

Yes our lives would have be easier,
as too our hopes for tomorrow

Had we not bet and WON,
that our bodies could be lopped off by Zorro!

Thank you Selma x

LOL ... Brava! Thanks W.C.Camp

I remember the sheer joy of driving when I was seventeen. I had a bad habit of forgetting to watch the fuel indicator, though:-/
